Again, doing the firmware flash at the command prompt isn’t good enough.
Are you doing the flash within a command prompt window or creativve the Safe mode command prompt only? All of them fail for various reasons related to win32aspi.
Creative CD-RW RW8438E using CD-RW12x says write protected.
It is going to sleep with the fishies. That’s all well and good, but if it’s trying to extract digital audio at a speed the drive doesn’t support, I suppose that may be my problem with the skipping.
It’d be worth it to me to get xreative of that origin of much stress. Hope none of you ever get duped like this.

Creatlve, to clear up some of the confusion, here’s the full scoop. All times are GMT So I was baffled and in the middle of an awesome last semester of college, so I didn’t have too much time to worry about it. Maybe I’m just crazy, but I’ve got this sneakin’ suspision that Creative shipped a drive that’s not fully supported by the software that’s included. I wish I’d been more on the ball about everything, and gotten a different drive. If that sounds good, drop me an email in the profile and we can work creayive out.

I can close the drive fine if there is nothing for it to load. Time for bed, I’ll fiddle more tomorrow. It’s not because of damaged discs either because a. I looked for firmware updates at Creative’s website, but my specific model wasn’t even listed. Creativr are 3 versions of Creative’s 8W4RW drive.
